Job Overview:


We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and dedicated Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our team as the Medical Director for our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Outpatient Services located in Camden and Berlin, NJ. This is a full-time leadership role where you will provide expert clinical care, oversee psychiatric services, and play an integral part in the development and management of our mental health programs for children and adolescents. As Medical Director, you will work closely with interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality care, support clinical staff, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of mental health services in our community.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Leadership:

  • Lead and supervise a team of psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, clinicians, and support staff within the PHP and outpatient departments.
  • Provide direct psychiatric care, including evaluations, diagnoses, medication management, and therapy for children and adolescents in both outpatient and PHP settings.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (psychologists, social workers, therapists, case managers, etc.) to ensure comprehensive, holistic care for patients.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans and work with staff to monitor patient progress and make necessary adjustments.
  • Ensure high standards of clinical care and evidence-based practices are consistently followed.

Medical Oversight & Quality Assurance:

  • Oversee the development and implementation of treatment protocols, clinical guidelines, and safety standards to improve patient care and outcomes.
  • Regularly review patient records and clinical documentation to ensure accuracy, compliance, and quality.
  • Ensure adherence to state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.
  • Conduct clinical audits and performance reviews to evaluate program effectiveness and staff competencies.
  • Provide training and mentorship to clinical staff to enhance their professional development and improve service delivery.

Administrative and Strategic Responsibilities:

  • Act as a key member of the leadership team, collaborating with administrative and operational staff to ensure smooth facility operations.
  • Help drive program growth by contributing to strategic planning and development of services that meet the needs of the community.
  • Participate in budget planning and resource allocation to ensure adequate support for clinical operations.
  • Serve as a liaison between the facility and external stakeholders, including healthcare providers, schools, and community organizations.

Staff Development & Training:

  • Provide ongoing supervision and mentorship to junior staff, including new hires, psychiatrists, and nurse practitioners.
  • Organize and participate in clinical education and training programs for staff to maintain high standards of care.
  • Participate in community outreach and education efforts to raise awareness about mental health and available services.

Emergency & Crisis Response:

  • Be available for consultation during psychiatric emergencies or crises, including risk assessment and safety planning for patients.
  • Ensure that appropriate interventions are in place for patients experiencing acute mental health crises, including coordinating hospital admissions if necessary.

 

 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Education and Licensing:

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.
  • Active New Jersey medical license or eligibility for licensure in the state of New Jersey.
  • DEA certification and ability to prescribe medications.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, including experience in outpatient, inpatient, or PHP settings.
  • At least 2 years of leadership experience in a medical or psychiatric setting, including direct supervision of clinical staff.
  • Strong experience in diagnosing and treating a wide range of psychiatric disorders in children and adolescents, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, ADHD, trauma, and autism spectrum disorders.
  • Familiarity with best practices in psychopharmacology and psychotherapy.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Strong clinical judgment and decision-making abilities, with a commitment to delivering patient-centered care.
  • Knowledge of mental health regulations, licensing standards, and evidence-based treatment modalities.
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems and medical documentation.
  • Compassionate, empathetic, and patient-focused approach to care.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, with a strong sense of professionalism and ethical integrity.
