  • Overview

    The Service Line Administrator works under the supervision of the VP, Network Operations and in collaboration with the Chairman of Behavioral Health. The Network Administrator is responsible for oversight of the operational, fiscal, performance improvement, Service Line development and marketing of the services. The Service Line Administrator participates in all management, staff, community, and governmental meetings related to the operation of the program, and networking with community agencies and individuals. This position requires the Network Administrator to perform tasks needed to assure effective operation of the program.

    The intent of this job description is to provide a summary of the major duties and responsibilities of this position and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements that may be inherent in the position.

    Responsibilities

    1. Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/ Entity as well as the proper release of information.

    2. Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patient and environmental safety and follows appropriate reporting requirements.

    3. Demonstrates/models the Network’s Service Excellence Standards of Performance in interactions with all customers (internal and external).

    4. Demonstrates Performance Improvement in the following areas as appropriate: Clinical Care/Outcomes, Customer/Service Improvement, Operational System/Process, and Safety.

    5. Demonstrates financial responsibility and accountability through the effective and efficient use of resources in daily procedures, processes and practices.

    6. Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding attendance and dress code.

    7. Recruit, hire, supervise, evaluate and discipline staff within the established policies and procedures.

    8. Plan and implement staff training and staff development activities according to agency policy and within budgetary guidelines.

    9. Plan, develop, and implement treatment services in compliance with professional standards in order to maintain full licensing and credentials.

    10. Manage the Service Line to operate within budgetary guidelines.

    11. Establishes, facilitates, and maintains managed care contracts for Service Line services throughout the Network in collaboration with the Finance Department.

    12. Participate in all management, staff development, governmental, inter-agency and intra-agency meetings relative to the operation of the program.

    13. Complete all forms, reports and documents accurately.

    14. Develops and implements new programs to enhance/maintain/improve service delivery to customers.

    15. Meets regularly with staff for whom responsible for direct supervision.

     

    OTHER FUNCTIONS:


    1. Develops and maintains an effective performance improvement program with measureable, pertinent, and realistic performance criteria to monitor and improve Service Line Programs.
    2. Responsible for implementing progressive practices and guidelines to achieve established goals and objectives.
    3. Other related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

     

    EDUCATION:

    • Masters level degree from an accredited college or university in a health administration , management, public health or business administration.

    TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Behavioral Health/Healthcare setting.
    • Previous management and marketing experience required in operations. Preferably in a multi facility setting.

    OTHER FUNCTIONS:

    2. Responsible for implementing progressive practices and guidelines to achieve established goals and objectives.

    PHYSICIAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

     

    Sitting for up to 8 hours per day, 1 hour a time; standing for up to 1 hour per day, 1 hour at a time; walking for up to 2 hours per day, 20 minutes at a time. Uses hands and fingers to turn pages, write and hold charts, grasping, twisting and turning. Frequently uses upper extremities to lift and carry up to 10 pounds. Occasionally squats, rarely reaches above shoulder level. Hearing as it relates to normal conversation in person or on the telephone. Seeing as it relates to general vision, near vision, color vision and peripheral vision.

     

    POTENTIAL ON-THE-JOB RISKS:

    May be exposed to unpredictable, violent behavior. Intermittent exposure to psychological stress.

     

    SPECIFIC PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT AVAILABLE:

    Employees who work in patient care areas where they may have potential exposure to patients with suspected or proven tuberculosis (TB) must have the ability to wear a particulate respirator and be fit-tested in compliance with the current recommendation form the CDC (enforced by OSHA) or must provide physician documentation as to the inability to wear a particulate respirator.

     

    MOST COMPLEX DUTY:

    Support and maintain all administrative functions in the Behavioral Health service line, consistent with the vision, mission, and strategic plan of the Network Wide Service Line.

     

    SUPERVISION (RECEIVED BY AND/OR GIVEN TO):

    VP . Manages Directors, Managers of the BH serviceline.

     

    COMMUNICATIONS:

    Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and possess experience with diverse age groups and populations.

     

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    The ability to supervise, organize and evaluate programs, staff and clients. Ability to manage fiscal resources and assets. Knowledge base and understanding of the appropriate State and JCAHO regulations, procedures, and community services.
